It's been wonderful having a new "home" -- we hope you join us this Shabbat at 3085 W 116th St, Carmel, IN 46032!

Mi Shebeirach List

Many of us rely on community for support when we or someone we care about is sick or in pain.  The Mi Shebeirach--the prayer for healing--is one central Jewish prayer for those who are ill.  The prayer includes pleas for both physical and spiritual healing, as well as the support of the community of others facing illness.   Each Erev Shabbat we sing a prayer for those who are ill.  When notified of a congregant, family member, or close friend who is ill, Rabbi recites the names and also invites those in attendance to mention the names of those not on the list.  Hearing the name of a person who is ill affords us the opportunity to reach out to them and their family, and to provide support, send a card, or make a friendly phone call to let them know we care.

We invite you to provide us with the name(s) of loved ones who are facing the challenge of illness, so that we may support them--and you--by inclusion in our communal Mi Shebeirach prayers.  Please complete the form below if you have a name to add to the congregation's Mi Shebeirach list and you have that person's permission to share their name publicly.

The Prayer for Healing

Traditionally, the Mi Shebeirach is said in synagogue when the Torah is read and is often recited by professional health caregivers, patients, and loved ones at various times during treatment and recovery from illness.

Mi Shebeirach avoteinu v’imoteinu,

Avraham Yitzchak v'Yaakov, Sarah, Rivkah,

Rachel v'Lei-ah, hu y'vareich et hacholim

[names].  HaKadosh Baruch Hu yimalei

rachamim aleihem, l'hachalimam ul'rapotam

ul'hachazikam, v'yishlach lahem m'heirah

r'fuah, r'fuah shleimah min hashamayim,

r'fuat hanefesh ur'fuat haguf, hasta

baagala uviz'man kariv.  V'nomar: Amen.

May the one who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, bless and heal those who are ill [names].  May the Blessed Holy One be filled with compassion for their health to be restored and their strength to be revived.  May God swiftly send them a complete renewal of body and spirit, and let us say, Amen.
